In my schooldays there were first loves, world events, tv and music which all confused and excited me. There was a massive gulf between my world and that of my parents. I couldn’t really talk to them about music or what I was reading in NME or Record Mirror, seeing on news programmes’ coverage of riots in the USA and war in Vietnam. I definitely couldn’t talk about girls and the Summer of Love came at either just the right, or just the wrong, time at 15!
