VLC plays music and video files. Virtually any, even if they aren't ones you might recognise.

If there isn't any software installed on the equipment you need to use, or need students to use, in the classroom, or you're out and about and want to run files off your memory stick then this software is ideal. It's a small download rather than a web tool as such but worth including just because it works.
